The Onset Of The Pandemic

March 2020 will forever be known as a moment that shook the globe; it maintains a stronghold over it even now. At the time, the billboard industry most definitely felt the blow. There was low visibility due to mandated lockdowns, and also curfews, etc. For the first time, many weren’t laying eyes on the outside, let alone any billboards.

This proved to be even more foreboding to industry members, as at the time, there seemed to be no metric, rhyme, or reason for figuring out when things would be back to normal, if ever. And for a company that thrives on people being out of their home to consume our ads, it was doubly troubling.

A Glimmer Of Hope

As restrictions would soon be lifted little by little, it became clear that all was not lost! With the introduction of new measures to curb the virus’ spread and overall damage, people could start leaving their homes, albeit with new precautions.

Lucky for the billboard industry, it proved it wouldn’t become antiquated in the wake of a new normal. Of course, this pales in comparison when thinking of the losses as COVID dredged on.

Advertising In The New Normal

The world was already moving towards a mainly digital landscape; the pandemic simply dumped fuel on the flames. As such, OOH advertising had already begun adapting with the inclusion of digital billboards as an option. While there was some rocky navigating, we managed to sustain this too!
