Vinyl: What Happens After Your Billboard Promotion Ends

A wide variety of very popular billboard advertisements

There’s a great deal that goes into creating a billboard. And for good reason, too. These ads are some of the most complex and bulbous to create. Thus, you should always pay close attention to the details of your ad. Once they’re up, they’re up!

There’s of course more wiggle room with a digital option, since you can change the content easily. Still, you don’t want bad information up for even a second. That’s one second where someone could have seen it. And since there’s no guarantee they’ll pass by the ad again, you’ll want to make sure it’s right the first time. That said, there’s been a great question posed about what happens to your ad after it’s promotional run.

Where the vinyl goes

So your latest billboard promotional timeline has come to a close. You’ve raked in all the attention you could receive, and you’ve likely already gotten leads. Did you use the static option for your ad? If so, you may be wondering what’s going to happen to all that material now that the run is over.

In this case, the vinyl is gathered once the ad comes down. Feeling sentimental? You’re in luck! You have the option of keeping the vinyl. This also comes in handy should you decide to run another promotion in the near future. This of course depends on whether the information on your ad is still relevant. If you decide to part ways with it, that’s fine too. The vinyl will be recycled for further use in a future campaign. Nothing ever truly goes to waste in this industry!

Hi, I’m Jason Sirotin. And today I’m speaking with Bill Hobbs, who is the owner and proprietor, managing director, everything of Effortless Outdoor Media, which is a outdoor media advertising placement company. You know, I’ve always been curious about this, but what happens to a vinyl when the promotion is over?

Bill Hobbs:

That’s a great question. So, when the promotion or the advertising is over, the vinyl is taken down and it’s folded up. It weighs about 60 pounds. And if the advertiser is going to use it again in the future, I’ll drop off that vinyl to the advertiser and he can use that sometime in the future. But if he’s not, they usually recycle the vinyls and the billboard company or recycle those.

Jason Sirotin:
